JBoss | Consolidation

August 3rd, 2013

For a customer in the telecommunication sector we consolidated the software from seven functionally different JBoss application servers to a single instance. Over one and a half years the software was adjusted gradually and the superfluous application servers were turned off, in parallel to developing new features. Even the last step with the largest refactoring was completed without problems. In the course of the consolidation the complexity of the software and the overall consumption of resources was reduced significantly, and development and deployment became much easier and faster. The next steps are upgrading the application server, consolidating the databases, and scaling the cluster from two to four parallel running application servers.
